Seminars
There are several seminars that are held on a weekly basis, where
faculty members and visitors to the department present their current
research work to an appreciative and skeptical audience. Students are
strongly encouraged to attend seminars regularly to become
acquainted with the broad variety of research topics in probability
and statistics and to taste the excellent cookies which are served
before the seminar. Students are expected to present the results of
their thesis research in a department seminar. Approximately once
each quarter there is a joint seminar with the Berkeley Statistics
Department, alternating location, and followed by a social activity.
