It was impossible to determine by simple inspection or simple
statistical methods that a small difference in the rate of GPx
synthesis was real. The problem was particularly intriguing, and so
we developed these novel methods for analyzing the data, whose nature
is common in biological experimentation: several imperfect
measurements across many days. It is our hope that these methods will
stimulate interest and will be used across many fields of study.
